All I want to do is spin, spin, spin… my knitting basket languishes in one corner, my bag of granny squares for The Oldest’s blanket languishes in the other and night after night I pull out my spindles and spin. Last night I pulled out my Kromski Sonata and started whipping up a fresh batch of Funky Carolina fiber… while I know pictures of half spun fiber are about as exciting as watching paint dry (to quote Franklin) that’s all I’ve got to show for myself right now.
I’m angling for a DK weight 3 ply, but we’ll see what I end up getting! The fiber is South African Fine in the colorway “Confetti” and it is a real treat to spin up. I seem to be going with this sort of bastardized long draw method and after reading a post about getting more even singles by Abby over on the Ravelry boards, I didn’t predraft at all – unsurprisingly enough, she’s right! The singles are amazingly even.
Quantum leaps are good!
One day I will return to knitting, maybe some of this fiber I keep on spinning up. That’s actually bound to happen sooner rather than later, as we are going to hit abominable summer temps here eventually and it is no fun to spin when the fiber is sticking to sweaty paws. So I might as well enjoy it while I can!
My Basket of Shame along is going great! While I myself have not completed a damn thing, this month I had 10 participants finish something, and a total of 13 BoS items crossed off various lists across the country! Imagine all the room this is freeing up in stashes everywhere as stuff gets done and all the brand new yarn that can go into that room in all those stashes. I look at it as stimulating the economy, really. Just doing my part.
All y’all who are going to MSW this weekend, have a wonderful time!

Ah! The spinning wheel looks so cool, especially there on your porch. =)
Which ravelry spinning forums are you reading? I’d love some more useful guidance on spinning.
