I decided that scheduling a spa day would be the very best way to reward myself for a tough intercession well done. I am going to enjoy a lovely day at the Glen Ivy Spa week after next. I’ve scheduled a deluxe facial, an 80 minute massage and I’m gonna do the hot mud, the Grotto and soak in stinky mineral water until I can’t soak no more.
I can’t wait. It is really kind of all that is keeping me going at this point.
My friends and family have kind of been working overtime this week to help me relax and chill out, unfortunately the kids have been really kind of jerks about pitching in around the house lately and that’s added to my stress a lot. On Monday and Tuesday I sort of had the kind of maternal meltdown that included tears and hair pulling and chest pains when confronted with my fourth sink of dirty dishes, pizza boxes, soda cans and mess in two days. Hey, I’m not necessarily proud of calling my kids names but sometimes you gotta let people know when they’re being jerks. And I really did just lose my shit at them about it.
So, enter the cavalry.
Wednesday, the Screenwriter kidnapped me for delicious burgers a la Jake’s Billiards in Pasadena where I was plied with protein and good company. We were nice and brought burgers back to the children. Then last night the Handsome Cabin Boy and I met up at Lucky Baldwin’s Pub for curry and mash, fish and chips and we shared a pint of delicious Craftsman 1903 ale. Or two. Two good meals in as many days (I’ve been living on bowls of fruit, yogurt and Gatorade), two dinners away from the aforementioned messy jerks who are my offspring, and two good nights of sleep were really helpful. The ex Mr. Honey and Ollie took our youngest out for dinner last night and got her out of the house, so that was also lovely.
I feel almost human enough to make it through the next and last week of intercession. I certainly feel human enough to handle cooking dinner tonight and I’ve been slowly putting the house in order all day. Friday is my day of “rest” hahahaha, which means that I just do all the housework and work on homework in one huge glomp.
Spa day. I’m getting a spa day. There might even be knitting.

Oooh, Glen Ivy. I love the sauna there is eucalyptus scented. Have a wonderfully relaxing day.
Greetings from Glen Ivy!
We hope you had a fabulous time at the spa!
