I’m pretty sure that most of the people of the knitting world are aware of the Yarn Harlot’s work on behalf of Doctors Without Borders. Well, knitters are awesome and in the wake of the Haiti earthquake they’re stepped up again and raised the MSF tally by over $50,000 in just the last few days.
Consider though, that organizations like this really need regular infusions of cash from supporters, not just when the sh*t hits the fan somewhere in the world.
Consider becoming a Field Partner. You can donate as little as $7.50 per month, or as much as you want. It’s automatically charged to your credit card each month, and you get the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping in the daily lives of people somewhere on the planet, helping them get the clean water, food, vaccinations or medical care that they need. If not with DWB, then consider becoming a regular contributor to something, somewhere, so that organizations like this can exist and do their good work.
And then, yes, sure, of course. When the sh*t hits the fan, you can step up and do a little extra.
We’re so incredibly blessed here in the first world. $7.50 is like, two lattes a month. When was the last time you had to really think before buying a latte?
