Things here at Casa Way Too Many Cats continue on in the vein that they’ve always gone in, that is to say, things go and we scramble after trying to keep up…
#1 Daughter has completed her move to Parts North, and is settling into life as a young adult. Buying car insurance, learning to play the autoharp, grocery shopping for the first time and sometimes remembering to call home and check in. She’s been texting me all these great pictures of random knit graffiti that she’s found in her new town, but I don’t know how to get them off my phone, so I can’t share them. I believe it’s called yarnbombing and you can find some fun pictures of it here from around the US and Canada. I would totally do some yarnbombing around Altadena, but I haven’t got the time to finish knitting all the stuff I want to wear for ME, much less knitting hats for parking meters. Woe.
#2 Daughter is embarking on another year of school and was just assigned Beowulf for her 10th grade Honors Lit class. We are amused at the expressions of woe and angst emanating from her bedroom as she attempts to slog through Old English and discovers that it is not much like the English she’s been speaking her entire life. This is a big year for her as we get to do PSATs and she’s in the Honors classes, and things are stepping up a bit with academic intensity.
I actually try not to laugh too hard at her homework angst because I myself am taking Statistics this semester, and similar outbursts of woe and angst (also rage, tears, swearing and occasionally throwing a calculator at the cats) have been known to happen during MY evening homework time. I do not expect to have much of a life this semester. Oh no. Thank goodness Faire isn’t for another 8 months!
Yes there is knitting.
Yes, there is spinning.
Yes, my camera is still broken and I’m too broke to afford a new one.
Oh! Wait! There’s also been some tattooing!
I’m actually one session further along than this picture shows and so there’s a good bit more color going on than pictured, but because I am at the mercy of friends with cameras, I don’t have any images of it as it currently stands. Which is, at the moment, healing, peeling and itching mercilessly.
Pretty much business as usual, yeah?
Happy New Year, L’Shana Tovah, chag sameach! May the coming year bring you sweetness and happiness and may you be inscribed in the Book of Life for another year.

I saw your ink over in the FC thread – LOVE it. It’s so lyrical. Great choice.
Good luck with stats. Math of ANY KIND whups my butt.
As one who just finished statistics last term, I totally feel your pain! Best of luck, and take it one week at a time.
Glad to see you are alive and well – I was getting a little worried over on the LJ… last you posted you had a migraine, then nothin!
Missing you over there, but glad I know where to find you. I’ve been busy falling in love with an extra myself.. just got word from my husband last night that he is willing to share, so I am very happy and excited….
Hope all is still well with you!
You.Are.Beautiful.
That is all.
