Someone said that to me the other day. That in this creative, artistic world where we’re all trying to make a living, there is enough pie for all of us. Pie, of course, being money, time, energy, the fuel we need to survive… I love the idea of that kind of interconnected, supportive community, and I’ve been working to develop that around myself and my business lately. I’ve been trying hard to make sure that I leave pie for other people, and actively help them get some. It feels really good. So I wanted to ask you… how are you helping other people in your community get some pie? Is there a way you can reach out to do that? And are you remembering to take some pie for yourself? You deserve pie too!
There’s a lot going on around Honey & Ollie this week. I missed my usual Monday blogging slot due to a rather hectic studio day and then a Tragic Hand Injury took me out yesterday (it involved a cat, as so many of the hijinks here at Honey & Ollie seem to do.) But today I am back! And I have something exciting to announce…
Honey & Ollie is doing an earring club! It is a lot of fun to get a mystery package in the mail once a month…. and this is essentially three months of blingy mystery!
Here’s how it works. You buy the Etsy listing now – it is all 3 months plus shipping inclusive. The club starts in April, and runs through May and June and I will mail out club packages on the 15th of each month, without fail. One month you get earrings with sterling silver and gemstones. One month you’ll get a pair of pearl and mixed metal earrings (could be brass or copper, could be gold, could be steel, you never know!) and one month you will get a pair of earrings in mixed media. Which means, you could get hand wrapped fabric links, or polymer clay beads, you might get paper, or a collage and resin bezel. It’s anything goes as far as the media for mixed media month. It will be completely cool, though, unique, and pretty. That, I can guarantee…. and no matter what the media are for the dangles, you’ll always get hand forged sterling earwires, for the most happy ears.
I don’t know what order I’ll do things in as I plan to mix it up. But you will get one pair of each type of earring over the course of the club, for a total of three fabulous pairs.
There will be a mystery bonus gift.
And, even cooler, your earrings will be club-exclusive for six months. Which means, whatever that combination of gems and particular design work out to be, no matter how cool, I will not put up copies of that design in the shop or exhibit them at any shows for six months. So you won’t find them on anyone else at any parties!
You can find the link to the club listing here. It’s going to be a really fun journey for me to design these pieces and share them with everyone.
Spots are super limited, as this is the first round and I want to make sure all goes well before I open up too many.
While these are not part of the club (because they’re mine!) this is the sort of thing you can expect. Beautiful craftsmanship. Fine gemstones or elements. Hand forged earwires. Art, soul, and yes, shiny. I hope you join us!

Wow, what a COOL idea!!! I’m hoping to join soon!
Yay! There are going to be a couple of spots given away via other blogs, which I’ll link to when they’re posted, so you can always skate over there and give winning a shot too! <3
Things I do to assist others in getting pie! (k . . . I can’t help but think of Cartman . . . ‘get in that kitchen and bake me some pie bitch!’)
Any way . . . I like to teach and share and encourage and buy the art of others and wear it, put it on my walls. An artist I know blogged about the jewelry she wears made by other artists . . . I ‘ran’ to her Etsy shop and could finally fork over some bucks for a pair of earrings she has made . . . I’m sooooo excited.
I just recently bought a hand carved wizard with a crystal ball . . . it’s such a delightful win-win. I found the Etsy site, via the Etsy site of a friend that ‘circled’ my shop and I was looking at her favs and . . . get the drift . . . tell two friends, circle/friend/share/like . . . the people you know and the work you want to share. I think that is the truth of how social networking is monetized . . . I dunno. I’ve struggled with just how in the heck Twitter is spose to help me at all . . . and maybe that’s it . . . the ‘tell two friends’ principal
K . . . I’m off to make pieces for class on Sunday and a DECODER RING!
Just so ya know, imo, you are one of the best pie enablers I know. With time, tools, knowledge…
The tell two friends/tell two friends thing really works. I love the Etsy circles, it has introduced me to so many crafters whose work I enjoy. I think it just takes time to build up. But it’s part of that sharing the pie process. I am a little baffled about Twitter too, fwiw. I just don’t have the time to devote to keeping up with what other people Tweet, is my problem, that’s where it breaks down for me, so I don’t keep up MY end of the pie circle there.
And omg, seriously you are making a decoder ring for REALZ? WIN! That’s so epic. I can’t wait to see it!!!!
I love the earrings you sent me, by the way! I wore them yesterday! And the pin is darling. <3 Thank you!
If I and my household were in a better financial state, I’d definitely do this. I hope it is very successful! Yay!
Oh yay, I’m so glad you love them! I’d love to see a picture of you in them!
Well, when I buy something that I love (or make it) I wear it all the time, everywhere I go. People ask me about it and I tell them where I got it…like I did today with my earrings from your shop
So, is there a deadline for signing up or is it just first-come, first-served till your full? I’ve got some cash coming in soon and I WANT THOSE EARRINGS! You’ve found my weakness, lol.
Cam – *LOL* zomg! Well, I think I need to give myself a little time to design and get stuff out, and since packages need to go out by the 15th, I’m going to say April 2nd is the cut off date. But if for some reason that date is problematic for you, let me know, I can reserve you a spot and make you an Etsy listing for a slightly later date. Since I know you, I’d be happy to do that.
xo
I might be intrested, am curious… what wire you using? I am actually allergic to brass.
Primarily I work in sterling or fine silver (.999). Copper is my second favorite metal to use. All of my earwires are 20 gauge sterling or very occasionally 20 gauge gold filled. I can accommodate allergies and work around that.
What gorgeous earrings! Makes me wish I had pierced ears again.
Thank you! xo
On the networking front, both Jen/Edara and her Mom love my copper/lapis/fabric earrings. Nena is almost ready to steal them out of my ears. I’ve been sharing your shop ID with people, as I wear them. And the dancers love the story I shared from your Flickr caption, that the fabric was from a pair of harem pants! Woot!
I love that you’ve created a custom subscription club, too. Great way of thinking ahead!
Well here’s hoping some folks want to give it a try!
I’m SO glad that people are loving your earrings. I will have to give you some of my MOO cards the next time we have lunch, so you can give them to people!
I’m actually a little reluctant to do another pair that’s too like the ones you got, because they were so unique and special and dear to my heart. I’ve been playing around with similar, but different ideas.
You are so right about the PIE! Enough to go ’round. The ever-regenerating, overflowing, eternally-satisfyingly-delicious pie. Oh how we luuuuuuuuuuv pie, and all that it enables.
Gimme a slice of that Creative Genius Pie with some Prosperity & Kindness topping, please… Yum! xoXOxo
