A little shop update happening this week on Etsy.
One of the mixed blessings about slow days at the Port of Los Angeles is, of course, that I have lots of time to work. And it is a very creative environment, so there’s some neat stuff coming off my little tiny portable jeweler’s bench down there. This retro-inspired choker was intended to be something else entirely, but came together into something that wouldn’t be out of place at, say, our favorite imaginary 1960′s ad agency. I can just see Joan Holloway slipping something like this on.
Another blessing about having a brick and mortar is that you begin to see your jewelry as a whole – more than you do on Etsy. You being to see how it works together, to think about streamlining and making things cohesive. You begin to find ways that you can make your pieces work together a little better. It’s a good way to grow as a designer. We’re going to be refining the design line a little bit. Some things will be leaving forever, but new things will be coming to take their place.
and then again? Sometimes you just want to have a little bit of fun. These little Fairy Hats were a lot of fun.

So thank goodness for the occasional slow days at Crafted. Without them, I would not be making much at all, not having had a lot of studio time at home lately! Today I slipped away for a glorious half hour of torch time – got a little fine silver fix and finished some pendant focals. Now to find time to patina…
