All the dancing and prayers for precipitation paid off overnight, with a small bit of rain up here in the Motherlode. The drought situation in California is pretty dire and the trees are looking kind of parched ‘round about Spacious Nuthouse Estates. We’re awfully grateful for the water. I loved waking up to the sound of raindrops pattering on the A-frame ceiling over my head this morning, though it made it really hard to actually wake up enough to get out of bed. The clouds and rain look to pass through all too quickly, but I’ll enjoy them while we’ve got them. The birdies and our resident squirrels were certainly out enjoying it this morning! I think everyone is happy for a little “winter” weather, even if it’s not the winter we should be having.
Friends who live in the lands of the “Polar Vortex” are having a much more exciting time of it, I hear!
The most exciting thing to befall us this week, besides the rain, is having a rather dapper looking varied thrush and a small flock of brown-headed cowbirds come to call at our bird feeders. The seasonal creek that runs past our house has a little bit of water in it – not enough to make noise yet, but enough to make the birds happy. I can’t say that I’m complaining, but it makes for precious little blog fodder. However, given the alternatives, that is pretty much fine, I think.
Tiny shop update this week – I’ve got some fun spiral hoop earrings now in stock, in copper, bronze, and sterling. They’re incredibly lightweight and very comfortable. I am really enjoying the pair I kept for myself and they have been garnering all manner of complimentary type comments. You should totally get some and then you will get all manner of complimentary type comments as well. Because I’m not greedy. I’ll happily share those compliments!
